Pernell Marsden | Production Designer

Pernell is an Australian director & production designer with a Masters of Production Design for Screen (VCA).

She has worked in the film industry in Australia and the UK since 2012 mostly working in the assistant directing department on shows for Disney and the BBC, along with commercials. 

​

In 2016, she began directing and production designing music videos on the side, discovering a passion for both roles, working with local artists including Brisbane sweethearts WAAX and Sahara Beck and in 2018 she won Best Music Video at the Queensland Music Awards for her the WAAX music video for Same Same that she co-directed with Gregory Kelly.

Over the last five years, Pernell has been largely working within the art department on feature films, TV shows and commercials, working at many levels for productions for Apple TV, Paramount+ to name a few. 

 

‘The Meaningless Daydreams of Augie & Celeste’ is Pernell’s second short film, which made its world premiere at the 71st Sydney Film Festival where she won the prestigious Rouben Mamoulian Award for Best Australian Director and at the Melbourne International Film Festival took home the Erwin Rado Award for  Best Australian Short Film.
